While doing my monthly orchid care, I discovered that Chadebise, one of my first orchids, had a very tiny basal keiki growing from the base of his stem. A keiki (Hawaiian for baby) is a clone of the parent plant. This is my very first keiki and I can’t wait to see if I can grow it into a mature plant. But before it can be removed and grown as a separate plant, it will have to develop more leaves and enough roots to sustain it.
