PETRA
Two lower leaves were yellowing and becoming weak so I removed them along with the leaf matter attached to the base. Her root system is stable with no signs of root rot. All roots are looking green and well hydrated despite only two or three roots in the water. She has a new leaf growing. Moving to winter plan of 2-day soak/5-day dry cycle until March or April. Note: I learned today to leave leaves until they fall off on their own.

ELEANOR
Eleanor’s original blooms are still hanging on with new buds and a secondary spike growing. Her roots are doing well although I’d like to see more new
roots appearing. Her leaves are showing signs of dehydration, will adjust watering cycle to a winter plan of 2-day soak/5-day dry cycle until March or April.

KAT
Kat is thriving as her roots settle into water culture. She has a new spike and the two secondary spikes have buds. There may even be one or two more secondary spikes beginning to grow. Moving to winter plan of 2-day soak/5-day dry cycle until March or April.

POCHE
Root system is looking good and seem to be working well. Leaves feel firm and well hydrated with a new leaf continuing to emerge. Bottom leaf is being absorbed and will likely fall off soon. Moving to winter plan of 2-day soak/5-day dry cycle until March or April.

CHANDEBISE
Overall, Chandebise is thriving. His original roots are still functioning, although they are brown and a little woody. However, he has made up for that with new roots that are still growing. Leaves are firm and a new leaf is growing. I keep hoping for a spike, but not yet. Moving to winter plan of 2-day soak/5-day dry cycle until March or April.

ALAIS
Alais is holding her own, her original blooms are beginning to fade a bit, but I think I see secondary spikes coming on. Her roots are what I’m worried about. There were two with dead velamen midway with heathy velamen above and below. I’ve removed the dead velamen, sprayed with hydrogen peroxide and will let her dry out a bit before adding water again. On the good side, she has either a new spike, or a basal keiki developing on her base; time will tell. I am going to move her to a 3-wet/2-dry cycle for a week or two.
